SB Handcrafted

Hello! Just popping in today to tell you about a new blog that Shawn and I started. It's focus will be sharing about the projects we are working on, and we would love it if you checked it out!

We're still doing some tweaking on the design, but that adorable logo Becca made for us is going to stay. After talking about having some sort of brand to put on our projects a while back, she came up with that, and it's so cool how the letters form a heart!

You can go to the blog by clicking on the picture above, or find it HERE.

Teamwork

What do you get when you cross an upholsterer with a woodworker?

A team that can build their own amazing custom furniture!

We're learning anyway. :)

So, we had this chair that Shawn's parents gave us. I knew I wanted to recover it, but we also got the idea to make a matching ottoman.

"6-8 inches? More like 6-8 snowflakes"

Is it really the middle of January already? We haven't even had a good snow yet! There was quite the blizzard predicted for last week, but we only got plummeting temperatures and a few flurries. Shawn was disappointed.

Now that the holidays are over it's nice to settle into a more normal routine. I think as newly weds we're still working on what normal is, but there are some things that have to happen, like cooking and cleaning, and church, and jobs.

This past summer people kept asking where I would work after I got married, and I knew a part time job would be nice, but with everything else going on, job hunting wasn't a priority. My mother-in-law knew a lady who did upholstery in town, and mentioned this to me, but we didn't know if she was looking for help or not.

Bridal Shower || Decorations

We had a lot of fun with the decorations.
The paper topiary was a Pinterest inspiration that actually turned out pretty great! Mom and Beth teamed up for that.

Mission: Mismatched made...I need another m word...

Magnificent?

that sounds a little boastful :)

Masterpiece?

Mystery?

Marvel?

I give up. :)

While staying at Shawn's parents house this week, I had the opportunity to do an upholstery project for someone who goes to their church. I guess a few people gave the gal my name when she was looking for someone to reupholster a pair of chairs she had.

Teapot Troubles...

One project I have to work on this summer is planing Bethany's Bridal shower!
Fun fun :)

Along with the decorations and food and other fun things to be found on Pinterest, I needed to figure out the invitations.

Then I found this beauty.

So darling! So classy!
Not perfectly "Beth" though, but it was a great start.

Also it's currently unavailable on it's Etsy page.

So what's a clever bunny to do? 😏

Butterscotch

Once upon a time... there was a rocking horse, who had two enormous googly eyes.

And a little crack in his neck.... but that shouldn't be a big deal...

Birdhouses and Blossoms

A pair of birdhouses we decorated. Mom wood-burned the designs and I painted them.
Also, our cherry tree has started to bloom!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

For this year's Valentine's Day post we have a pretty special project to share with you.

Beth, Mom and I joined creative forces to make a bridal shower gift.
It seemed very fitting for today's post :)

Hey Stranger :)

By Becca

AAAAAAHHHHHHH- ahhhh, hello there!

Well it's certainly been a while since the last post. Skipping over an entire month is a record for us, and it's not for lack of blogging material :) Life has just been busy - Plus Beth has always been the better blogger anyways.

So, let's play a bit of catch up, shall we?

A Wild Hair :)

By Becca

As I type this, my head is wrapped in a plastic wrap turban.
I'm starting a new trend :)

Out of the box!

In last week's post I said that the clubhouse was going to get it's own post.
Well, here it is.  :)

It started with this great idea mom found on another blog.

I absolutely loved this idea!!
The "changing table" we had in the nursery, was an old dresser. It held children's books, puzzles, diapers, and served as a catch-all for other random things. With the organization I hoped to add to the nursery, the dresser would become empty and unneeded.
If the new changing table doubled as a playhouse, that would be a perfect solution for our small space.

Nursery Makeover

Hello everyone!

It feels like it's been a while since we've posted a project.
This isn't because we haven't been working on anything, actually quite the opposite.

One of our projects has been in the works for a few weeks now, and there are still a few finishing touches I want to add before it's truly done... but I can still show what's happened so far.

Mom, Bethany and I, with Dad's financial help, have redecorated our church's nursery.
It's the first room outside our own home that we've done this for, and it was so much fun!

Mission: Channel Back Side Chair

Hold your horses!

Before you groan and say, "No, not another channel back chair!", just keep reading.

But you wouldn't do that, would you?

Of course not. You're too curious and want to see what this cute little chair looked like once I finished with it.

Spiffy New Threads

It's not often that I get to make doll clothes.  It used to one of my favorite things to make new outfits for my American Girl doll, or for a pair of teddy bears Becca and I had.
But nowadays, opportunities to make miniature clothing are few and far between.
(Though, there have been a few projects I've shared on the blog- for the doll house family, and my armor/sweatshirt prototype)

However, in the midst of some larger projects last month, I was able to squeeze in making an outfit for this little fellow.
