No Post In 2021???

For the first time since 2013, the Clever Bunnies haven't posted in over a year! Oh dear, what shall we do about that?

Another question is, is anyone still reading?

As I type right now, I can hear Caroline talking in her crib as she's supposed to be napping. I should be washing dishes, making granola bars, and cleaning for company this weekend, but someone sent me a link to this super cool Writer's Conservatory, and that began the derailment of my train of thought. Hey, I'm already on my laptop, let's check blogger.

I really have been wanting to get more serious about writing though, and while it would be wonderful to finish my 100,000+ word novel I've been working on for over 5 years, little bits of writing like this are good exercises too.

So we'll see, maybe I'll back into some of our old content like recipes, book reviews, projects, or just pop in every now and then to say hi and talk about life. :)

What do you think?

Jesus is Alive || Acoustic cover

So glad Beth and I got to collaborate on this beautiful Christmas song!
Merry CHRISTmas everyone!

Christmas Christmas time is here :)

Hmmm.... technology is frustrating.
Merry Christmas! We made music :)
Beth and I recorded this one after her baby shower back in November.
It's not your typical Christmas song - but we think it counts :)
The Gray Havens are super cool and you should google them if you don't know about them.

And now to jump back in time to Christmas (technically Thanksgiving) past.

This one I was sure was on the blog, but I couldn't find it.
Thanksgiving 2016, I believe, was when this was recorded.
We did this arrangement for the Christmas tea our church holds each year.

Beth: "Wow, look how short my hair is!" :P

I wonder if I could hit those high note better now....

Anyhow, for those of you who still check in on us, thank you, and have a very wonderful Christmas!

Raindrops on roses.. and spiderwebs

Going out to feed Bun and notice everything is so dewy and sparkly... so showering, school, and getting dressed is postponed and photography commences!

Juniper enjoys sitting in her lettuce pot... but then the lettuce doesn't grow back.

When you feel like squealing when your pictures turn out just like you hoped, it seems necessary to share them. 😍😍😍

Why is Good Friday good?

I like asking people to listen to this song, telling them it's from the perspective of a person from the bible, and then having them guess who it is. Not many do, but there are some good hints in the song.

I'll just tell you the answer though, its one of the thieves that was crucified with Jesus.

But why is the song called "Revenge"?

And why do we call the day that our Savior was killed, good?

God created a perfect world for us to live, and from the beginning, we've been chosing our own way over His.

We rebel, reject His design for us, seek after other things to fulfill our lives.

We turn our backs on our Creator, and what does He do to repay us?

What would a just judge do to lawbreakers? Give them the punishment they deserve.

"The wages of sin is death"
(Romans 6:23a)

And not just physical death, but spiritual death, separation from God.

That's what we deserve.

That's what we should receive as retribution.

But the "revenge" for our rebellion does not have to fall on us.

God is not only holy, and perfect, and just. He is loving, and merciful, even when we are far from deserving it.

He chose the only One who could stand in our place, a human, like us, yet sinless, and perfect. His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus took our punishment. The wrath of God was poured out on Him, instead of us.

That dark day, when an innocent Man bore the sins of the world, is now a day that means hope and forgiveness.

"So I stopped for a moment to look at the Son
Dying today
That's when the irony hit me
That this was REVENGE
That love had descended
And stolen our pain away"

As we go into this Easter weekend, lets take time to think about the wonderful, good gift our Savior provided for us. That the revenge we should have received fell on the shoulders of another, allowing us to join Him in Paradise for eternity.

So much music :)

Life's been busy, and there's been music - and a surprise in the last video!
Most of these songs are ones I'm practicing/have practiced for performances at nursing homes -
so finding our way to fame and fortune? 😉

He Didn't Know

He didn’t know he was dead.

He never saw the dull eyes stare back at him in the mirror, or notice the only beat he ever felt in his chest came from the bass line of the music blaring through his headphones.  Emotions never penetrated the surface.  Knowledge stayed suspended in his mind, never reaching the heart.  Oblivious to this, he went about with the mindset he could only live for today- but that wasn’t living.

Every day, he needed more to spark a sensation of feeling.  Nothing satisfied or satiated. He was jaded of thrills, numb.  This process of decay was nothing new.  It began the day he was born.  Outwardly, there was no way to see the damage.  A medical doctor’s examination would have revealed nothing.  But he was dead nevertheless.

His condition didn’t only affect him.  With absence of feeling came absence of care for anyone but himself.  He wanted love and loyalty, but how could he expect to receive something he couldn’t give? Because of this, his family was in shreds.  Numbness couldn’t protect him from hurt only worsen it.  It only led him to believe everything was fine, when it wasn’t. Love was lust, joy was fleeting, and peace was a figment of imagination.

He wasn’t alone.  Everyone was dead, which made it hard to see.  His plight went unnoticed amongst the others with him in this graveyard.  His existence spiraled downward, with no meaning, no hope.

Then he met her.

The seat beside her was the only empty spot on the bus.  He didn’t want to talk, but that didn’t stop her.  His response to her questions was little more then a grunt, until he realized she actually cared.  She wasn’t making polite conversation; she honestly wanted to know how he was.  This startled him into saying a few more words, hoping to quench her.

He found himself telling her about his day.  She shared about hers.  Then she asked if she could tell him something, something that meant everything to her.

             She told him about life.

It was an everlasting life from a God who made the ultimate sacrifice to give it to her, to bring her from death to life.  She hadn’t earned it, didn’t deserve it, and couldn’t keep the knowledge of it to herself.

He could have life.  But something separated him from it.  God is perfect and holy.  They were not.  In their sin, their disobedience and rejection of God, they were filthy, utterly helpless, like a rotting corpse.  They were dead, and they were destined for a physical death that would take them to a place of unimaginable torment.  But God, full of mercy and love, sent His Son to take the punishment for their sin, to free them, to make them alive.  In Christ, he would have the hope of an eternity with God, and a life giving relationship with his Creator.

If he believed this, life would be his.

She had to go, it was her stop. He watched her leave, something rising in his chest as the weight of her words hit him.  If what she said was true, he was in danger.  If what she said was true, he needed help.  He didn’t even know her name.  But she had shown him a spark of light in his darkness.  God made a way to bring him to life.  God reached out - while he was helpless, hopeless and dead. He didn't have to continue this downward path. There was another way. He believed.

His stop came. He stepped out into the bright sun. He looked around at the faces of people passing by.  Blank faces, dead faces.  He could see it now.  He had been in their place.  They needed to know.  They needed to hear about life.

He could do what she did.  He could share the message.  He wanted to thank her, but he didn't know if he would ever see her again.

He did know this- he wasn’t dead anymore.  He was alive.

SB Handcrafted

Hello! Just popping in today to tell you about a new blog that Shawn and I started. It's focus will be sharing about the projects we are working on, and we would love it if you checked it out!

We're still doing some tweaking on the design, but that adorable logo Becca made for us is going to stay. After talking about having some sort of brand to put on our projects a while back, she came up with that, and it's so cool how the letters form a heart!

You can go to the blog by clicking on the picture above, or find it HERE.

Teamwork

What do you get when you cross an upholsterer with a woodworker?

A team that can build their own amazing custom furniture!

We're learning anyway. :)

So, we had this chair that Shawn's parents gave us. I knew I wanted to recover it, but we also got the idea to make a matching ottoman.

"6-8 inches? More like 6-8 snowflakes"

Is it really the middle of January already? We haven't even had a good snow yet! There was quite the blizzard predicted for last week, but we only got plummeting temperatures and a few flurries. Shawn was disappointed.

Now that the holidays are over it's nice to settle into a more normal routine. I think as newly weds we're still working on what normal is, but there are some things that have to happen, like cooking and cleaning, and church, and jobs.

This past summer people kept asking where I would work after I got married, and I knew a part time job would be nice, but with everything else going on, job hunting wasn't a priority. My mother-in-law knew a lady who did upholstery in town, and mentioned this to me, but we didn't know if she was looking for help or not.

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

I tried a new filming angle - which involved moving the sewing machine that doubles as my record player table.... :)

With our immediate family changing this year, Christmas plans are going to need a little revamping.
But this year we're planning on having our Christmas with Shawn and Beth at New Years.

New Year's... are we really getting so close?

How Many Kings ( Clever Bunnies )

I got to visit Beth and Shawn over the weekend.
Beth and I played Christmas music at coffee house Saturday night.
This was one of the songs we played.

Doesn't their apartment look cute and cozy?
It looks so much more homey now that Beth has moved in. 😊

This the first song since Easter that we've recorded together!!!!
( that's crazy )
In general, as you might have assumed, we can't do that as much as we used to. So there's been a lot more solos posted lately, but it's so nice to sing together again.

Christmas time is busy, so, this is short. But at our home we've been blasting Christmas music and planing Christmas get-togethers and decorating and things. It's been fun!
