Monarch Museum 2.0

Thursday marked the change of the first chrysalis, as the scales began changing to the vibrant Monarch pattern of orange, black, and white.

We missed watching it come out yesterday, between garage sales and....BECCA COMING HOME!
(We were just a bit distracted)

Towards the end of the day after the butterfly's wings were dry and strong enough, we brought her* out to the front garden.

*A male monarch has a black spot on his wings, and thinner veins. Since this one had no spot and thicker veins, we deduced it was a she. :)

  1. How beautiful! :D It's so interesting to find out how to tell the males from females - I've never heard before!
