Hello there! It's been a while since I've posted... did you miss me? :)
One of the reasons why my posting has been... well, non-exsitant in the last few months is because I have a job now! ( Jobs are cool ) Yet quite time consuming and often exhausting.
Also life in general has been a tad of a rollercoaster and a lot of things have fallen to the side... blogging being one of them.
Let's pick it up and get on with it then shall we?

Along with Felix Tovar, and Rory Sonders, another character found in my WIP "In the Present Age" is Gilead Hart.
Nope. Gilead is absolutely positive that he has the gift of singleness. He also lives a dangerous life, and he would not want a wife or children left behind if something happened to him. Little does he know what's in store.
(2. What is their weapon of choice? (It doesn’t necessarily have to be a physical weapon.)
The Bible.
"The Word of God is living and powerful and sharper then any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirt and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12
If the situation calls for a more physical approach, he is trained in hand-to-hand combat.
(3. What’s the nicest thing they’ve done for someone else, and why did they do it?
Well, he shares Jesus with people and risks his life smuggling bibles... because he wants to point others to the Savior who died for sinners' souls.
(4. Have they ever been physically violent with someone, and what instigated it?
No, and not because he's never wanted to. He does his best to follow Matthew 5:39 "But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." Sometimes it's hard.
That depends on what the rules are :) Gilead is a devoted follower of the way of the Lord, in that sense, a rule-follower for sure. But when it comes to some of the rules in his city, if they go against God they become null and void.
(6. Are they organized or messy?
Very organized.
(7. What makes them feel loved, and who was the last person to make them feel that way?
Spending time with people he loves. The last time? Probably a good home cooked dinner at home and spending the night with his family.
(8. What do they eat for breakfast?
His mom's homemade granola bars! Great for an on-the-go guy like himself, he can stuff his cargo pants pockets :)
(9. Have they ever lost someone close to them? What happened?
Gilead's father was arrested when he was 17. Since then Gilead has been the man of the house, and also tried to step up to the role his father played in the underground. He still struggles with the responsibilities and doubts he could ever be the man his father was.
(10. What’s their treat of choice? (Or, if not food, how else do they reward themselves?)
Brownies and a mug of coffee always hit's the spot.
He sounds cool, I think I am blessed with the gift of singleness too!
ReplyDeleteI echo Skye: he does sound cool!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds interesting! Is this a contemporary story? Best wishes writing him!

Ah, fun. I'm thinking about taking part in "Beautiful People" this month. I've read posts about it for a long time (ever since Cait at Paperfury got involved with it), but I've never actually done it...

I like Gilead because he sounds both unselfish, courageous, and firm. Also, the idea of smuggling bibles in a Christian underground intrigues me..
ReplyDeleteKeep writing and blogging!
