Graduation Highlights

By Becca
It's been a little crazy these past two weeks, consisting of:

Taking the GED test ( I passed, Yay!)

Preparing for the graduation party

Getting the house ready for company

Writing my graduation speech

Then the festivities began, and as fun as the weekend was; it left us rather tired out.
With Memorial weekend, the greenhouse where I work was very busy,
and today is the first chance I've had to sit down and really focus on this post.

There are a few things that deserve their own post:

Like my Great Great Grandmother's tea cup,

the pennant banner I made for the party,

and this fantastic summer project!

For right now I'll try to do a brief overview of our weekend celebrations.
Friday we had a lovely dinner with our family and had a bit of a ceremony.
Dad and I read our speeches and I received my diploma.

Did I mention that we ate in a bank vault?  :)

Then we went to my favorite park and took more pictures.
Thanks Aunt Martha!

Isn't that such a sweet little cottage?
No one lives in it, it's just a decoration.

Beth and I reenacted a picture that was taken in this park 14 years ago.
It's not exactly the same, but we tried to get the same "feel" :)

Saturday afternoon was filled with family, friends, food, and fun!

The decorations were quite similar to Beth's,
for the exception of 36 balloons, a different banner and my typewriter :)
(Can't seem to find a picture of the balloons)

The menu was macaroni salad, pigs-in-a-blanket, scotch-a-roos,
lemon bars, fruit cups, root-beer and orange floats.
That's a lot of food! Anyone want a month's worth of leftovers?

And there were lots of games indoor and out~ lawn darts, ladder golf and Mom made a giant version of "KerPlunk".
There were a few rounds of Spoons,  Pit,  Apples to Apples,
Urban Myth and UpWords played throughout the afternoon.

I think our tire-swing got a pretty good work out :)

Needless to say, it was a wonderful day :)

I hope everyone else had a good time too!

Now my next task is writing thank-you notes, I suppose that's a good way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Thank you Dad and Mom for giving me a great education and party! :)
Thank you to everyone who helped set things up, made us breakfast, sent cards and gifts and came to celebrate with us!

  4. Congratulations Becca! My younger sister Brigid also graduated this year, and so many other friends of ours... it seems like this is the big year for graduations! Anyhow, I adore that photo of you two girls reenacting yourselves when you were small. Too cute! And could I say more about the wonderful decorations at your party? Simply fabulous and creative!

It's a funny thing Becca, both you and I work at a greenhouse! Do you like your job? What do you do there? I have been laid off work now, only to return for the season next year. How about you? Will you be working there for much longer?

    Blessings and love,

    1. Thank you Jessica, and congratulations to Brigid!
Yes I do like working at the greenhouse, and I do a lot of different things there. I'll probably work there through the summer.

  5. (Did you disappear after your speech? I hope not! And hopefully you knew everyone twice as well as you though; and liked all of them twice as much as they deserved!)
Congratulations on graduating! That's so exciting! Haha, that's so sweet reenacting the childhood picture. I love that. And I love your blue and skin-colored dress too. That's gorgeous.
Looks like you had a fun party!
