I should have guessed that February's Beautiful People would have a Valentine's theme, but when I first saw it, I thought "Crumbs, I won't be able to do it because I don't have any couples in my book."
Then I thought-
Just because their story isn't the main plot of the book, I do have two characters that get married, and they are a couple I need to work on, so this will be good for me to do.
So, let me introduce you to Quintus and Porcia.
(This lovely drawing would be them towards the end of the book, once they're married and starting a family together)

1) How did they first meet?
They met through Porcia's father- he met Quintus first and thought he would make a good match for his daughter, and then she got to meet him at dinner party her father invited him to.

Quintus: She's just a girl! And she's scared of me. How will this ever work?
Porcia: Goodness, he's so tall, formidable, and stern looking, how do I even try to talk to him?
3) How long have they been a couple?
They meet in the beginning of the story, and are married by the end...so I'm not sure how to answer this question. :)

4) How committed/loyal are they to each other? Would they break up over a secret or a disagreement? Could stress drive them apart? Would they die for each other?
They are very committed to each other, but I don't think I can fully answer this question without giving away some major spoilers.5) List 5 “food quirks” they know about each other. (Ex: how they take their coffee, if they’re allergic to something, etc….and feel free to mention other non-food quirks!)
Hmmm, Quintus notices that Porcia is rather a picky eater and prefers fruits and sweets. He teases her that she hardly eats anything. As for other quirks, Porcia acts very shy and reserved around strangers, but with people she knows and loves, she can be kind of crazy. She likes pretty things, and collects shells.
Quintus eats very quickly, and doesn't much care what it is. He's picked up this habit from his years as a soldier. He doesn't like seafood- he's not necessarily allergic, it just doesn't agree with him.
He's quick to raise his voice when he's angry, as if being louder will help him be better understood. He's very observant of his surroundings, and always carries a weapon with him, even if it's just a dagger.
6) Does anyone disapprove of their relationship?
Quintus's brother doesn't care for it, as he doesn't like much of what Quintus has done in his life, and doesn't want him to hurt Porcia.
7) What would be an ideal date?
Horseback riding along the coast, followed by a picnic.
8) What are their personality dynamics? Similar? Contrasting? Do they fight a lot or mesh perfectly?
Quintus and Porcia are very different, but they complement each other well. Quintus is often confused by her ever changing emotions, but he's willing to listen to her and try to come to an understanding.
9) What have been their best and worst moments together as a couple?
Spoilers!
10) Where do they see themselves and their relationship in the next few years?
Raising a family together and lively happily ever after. At least, that's what Quintus sees. But Porcia knows that after a certain decision she's made, there's a very small chance of that happening.
They seem cute, our emotions do tend to puzzle guys.
ReplyDeleteThanks Skye! I only have second hand experience with that fact, but I think they'll be a fun couple to write about. :)
DeleteThat John gif is perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting "getting to know" Quintus and Porcia (and I love their names!). You've made me curious about your project.
Haha, i thought so too. ;)
DeleteThanks! I'm having a hard time likely Quintus' character, but he still needs a lot of development, so maybe he'll start to grow on me. :)
Aw they sound cute! My couple and your couple both enjoy the same sort of date. That's so cool. I love your character's names and it's cool that they're married. Of course they're a couple. They're a permanent couple. ^ ^
