What is T.E.T.C?
It's been a while since we've posted, and this post is the first in a series that we'd love to share with you.
T.E.T.C is an acronym for Take Every Thought Captive.
It started during Spring Break.
A good friend of ours decided to read the New Testament in one sitting.
(Show-off) :)
Anyways, a recurring theme he noticed throughout all the books was; take every thought captive.
He brought it up in a conversation the following week when we all got together.
He brought it up in a conversation the following week when we all got together.
"If you could have one thing always at the forefront of your mind, what would it be?"
That question made us quiet for a few pondering minutes. Then he shared that he wanted to always have the reminder - take every thought captive.
Such a simple concept, only four words, yet it has the power to transform a Christian's life.
I thought it was neat too, since only the week before, I gave a short speech about honoring God with your thoughts, words, and actions.
Soon after, I noticed that he had something written on the back of his hand. When I asked, he explained that it was the acronym for Take Every Thought Captive, and that reminded him every time he saw his hand to do just that. I thought that was a very good idea, and copied it. :)
It's so easy, just writing four letters on the back of your hand, but I found it so helpful to refresh that thought all day long, and then live it out.
It quickly became sort of a game. We found principles in class, in our devotions, in Sunday morning service, and added them to our list. Sometimes we have up to 8 written on our hand at once.
I think we have about 19 or 20 by now, and a few other students have started doing it too.
It's really fun when people ask what's written on my hand, and I get to explain what it is and why we're doing it.
So for now, I'm just sharing the one that started it all, it's kind of the foundation principle. But in the future we'll go down the list and tell you what the others are.
I challenge you to do this.
You don't have to use ours exactly and you don't have to write them on your hand. One friend puts them on sticky notes in his room, but it's great to put them somewhere you see often. If it's your favorite verse, or anything God's been teaching you, just write it down and keep it at the forefront of your mind.

I think this is a great reminder! I love the idea!
ReplyDeleteCool idea! :) It's definitely good to be reminded of how to live throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteGood idea! One thing I've found about writing things on my hands unfortunately is that hand sanitizer takes them off pretty quickly and I use a lot of it with nursing. :(
ReplyDeleteI'll attempt to do this on non-nursing days though. :)
That's a great idea! I might have to try this. I find it easy to keep the body in control, but the mind is another thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! I'm glad you like it and I hope it will be helpful in your Christian walk like it's been in mine. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent way to get deeper into the Word! I might have to write TETC on a journal page when I read my Bible each day. I've been looking for a way to motivate me to write during my Bible study time and I think this might help. Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteLol, this is so fun and unique....even has a bit of a sci-fi look. Lol. Maybe I only thought that because I know you all like sci-fi and I didn't know what T.E.T.C
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about this a lot recently! The idea is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI've tagged you for a randomly awesome questions tag :D
Ok, thanks!
