So long, Khan!

Today is Khan's 6 week birthday, and tonight his new family came and picked him up.
It's been strange having only one baby rabbit, but we've enjoyed our time with him and will be a bit sad to see him go.

He had a fun afternoon with mama, Sarah Jane, doing binkys in the rabbit run together. They are such a cute pair, but they don't hold still for long.

Did you know black rabbits fade in sunlight? During the summer months, Sarah Jane's midnight black coat turns a dark chocolate color. I guess it's like getting a tan. :)

She's going to miss her little buddy, but hopefully we'll have one more litter before winter.

Khan's a spunky little chap, friendly, but strong-willed.  He can be a sweetie though, and I'm sure his new family will enjoy him.

His new name is going to be Pitch, as in, pitch-black. Isn't that just darling for a black rabbit?

So long, Khan!

  1. Aw, so sweet! I don't think I could ever raise little baby animals and give them away. It must be SO difficult! Love the gif at the end of the post! :)

    1. We console ourselves with the fact we have the babies while they are the cutest. It is a bit sad, but it's really fun when we know the people they go to, instead of just dropping them off at a pet-store.

That's Becca's and my absolute favorite gif right now, and I was excited that it fit at the end of this post! :)

  2. Aww, so no more funny bunny posts (least till next time!), haha. :-/

Y'all are the second bunny raising bloggers I've seen... Serious question, do they actually know their names/respond and stuff like a dog?

    God bless!

    1. I'm glad you've liked the bunny posts! Hopefully next month there will be some more babies to post about.

I don't think a rabbit would come to its name being called. They would respond if you had a treat for them. Rabbits are somewhere between a chicken and a cat when it comes to affection. They like people because people take care of them, and though they can be trained to do some things, they are pretty independent little critters. :)
