Back to (photography) Basics :)

Hello! hello!

It's been a while, again.
Not sure if we'll get back to more of a reasonable posting schedule any time soon... life is busy.
Beth is still newly married, and I've been occupied with a number of different things lately.

One of which is going through an online course on the basics of Photography.
I found this offered at the blog Sixth Bloom , they also have super helpful blog posts on photography too.

I had been a self taught photographer and never knew what I didn't know. 😜
But this has been really great, I'm learning a lot of things I hadn't just picked up on my own fiddling with my camera over the years. Plus - at the end of the lesson you get "projects" to do before the next lesson. That is really nice to get some ideas and direction for practicing.

First week's homework:
Using the automatic settings - after learning what they are designed for.

Teddy using Macro setting on my Canon Rebel
Trees set on Landscape mode.
More trees using Night Portrait mode.
Kit kat shot in Portrait mode.
Bird shot in Action mode - notice actually flying action in bottom lefthand corner.
Didn't see that until after I sent it in for review!
Start of this week's homework - One subject and practicing "filling the frame." Bit of a chair intrudes in the right bottom corner - they said always watch the corners for distractions! :)

So that's a little of what I'm up too, amongst other pursuits, and life in general.
Just wanted you all to know we're still around. 😊

How about you?
Have you ever dabbled in photography, or gone a little deeper?
What do you find yourself photographing most often?
(I seem to have a thing with animals and trees from these pictures.) 😏

Oh, and this is Dad's coffee one Saturday morning - in the morning sunlight the steam with swirling rainbows!!! 😊
