Mission: $2 Deal

A large percent of the upholstery projects I do are for other people, either special orders, or redoing something to sell.

But now when having a home of my own is not so far away, and Shawn has found an apartment that needs furnishing, I can put my upholstery skills to use on something I'll be the one enjoying. :)  Well, Shawn first, but eventually the both of us.

He has a few things already, one of which is a dining table. But it needed chairs, so I've been on the hunt for some, and yesterday Mom and I went out adventuring together and came across these.

There was five of them, and only $2 each!!

Yes, they aren't very pretty, but I could change that.

Spring Cleaning

Do you every have one of those days were you look around your room and you think; 

"Man, I got a ton of stuff!"

Well, we have.😏

Especially coming home on Saturday and basically dumping everything on the floor of our room, or maybe that was just me...

So most of this afternoon was taken up with emptying dressers, closets and suitcases. Trying on clothes, asking "when was the last time I've even worn this??" putting winter clothes away, and analyzing our "costume" collection. 

(The wedding dress is part of such collection, only 20 bucks at a thrift store!) 

Now our room is cleaner! But the hallway is another story..... 😝

Leaving on a jet plane

After two weeks away, we're glad to say we're back home again!

Sometimes you just need a cup of tea :)

Been a long day... leaving for the airport at 5ish tomorrow morning.

It'll be good to be home. 

Over the river and through the woods

To Grandmother's house we go! 

Well, we're here now, :) after a long day of driving.

For a lunch break, we followed signs to this old house turned museum. It ended up not being open, but we still had a picnic in it's lovely garden.

We had a grand time at the American Revolution Museum, a fun lunch trying some new foods (puffer fish is pretty tasty!), and nice walk around Colonial Williamsburg today.

All in all, a very fun and educational day. :)

Here's a question for you, if you had lived during the time of the American Revolution, what side would you have been on?

It's an interesting thing to think about. :)

Down by the Sea

Driving through the tunnel under the bay

Went to Virginia Beach today! It was colder and windier than we expected, but we survived. Some brave souls were even swimming! But not us :) I enjoyed walking on the edge of the water, Mom and Beth preferred looking for sea shells. It was lovely! 

4 States in 1 Day

Drove through New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and reached our destination in Virginia today.

Survived crazy drivers, hungry vultures, and 9 hours in a car with our mom, aunt, and grandma.

Just kidding. :)

It was a beautiful drive through winding roads flanked by mountains, hills, and trees beginning to leaf out and bloom. 

It's beginning to look a lot like Spring!

I know there are so many " acceptable " sins that I let slide by in my life. 

But God clearly tells us: 

"Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world." Philippians 2:14-15

Easter Prep

I think I may have discovered a new favorite Easter candy :) 

Our grandma is hosting an Easter egg hunt this week end, so we were busy filling eggs this morning.  We also had to replace some of the eggs in our well-loved Resurrection Egg set, a fun way to tell the Easter story to kids.
